Attention Production Companies and Literary Agents

I am currently researching literary agents and production companies for a book on medical school I've written. If there are any blog readers who are one or the other and would be interested in discussing this with me, please email me at miplasticsurgeon@yahoo.com, or call my office at (248) 650-1900.
Thanks!

Savvy Miss Article on Plastic Surgery

Savvymiss.com has recently published an article on plastic surgery entitled: Plastic Surgery: How Far Will You Go? They were kind enough to include some of my comments in the article. I think the article is well-written, except some of the patient experiences are mind-boggling to me. These include breast augmentation patients not being allowed to shower for a week (mine shower the day after surgery) and being surprised at firm, hard breasts immediately after surgery (I warn all my patients about this, and in 98-99% of cases they will soften really nicely). All-in-all, worth a read.

Madonna's Black Eyes - Plastic Surgery?

Madonna was recently photographed with two black eyes, as shown on this photo. The current In Touch Weekly magazine has my comments on it, but I will also offer them here.

The most common cause of black eyes like this is trauma. Most people who are assaulted can get one black eye, but when the base of the skull is broken (such as in a bad car crash) then both eyes can often become black. Now, I seriously doubt she's been in a car crash or physically assaulted, so the next most likely culprit is surgery.
Lower blepharoplasty surgery is the most common cause of bruising under both eyes, as seen in this photo. While I saw this quite commonly with the traditional technique, the newer transconjunctival blepharoplasty (hidden scar) often doesn't create bruising.
Other common causes of bruising like this include rhinoplasty, facial fat grafting, and Restylane, Juvederm, or Sculptra injections under the eyes. Take your pick. I guess we'll see how she looks in the near future.

Scar Wars - My Collaboration with RADAR Magazine

This month's RADAR magazine and its online site have an article which I collaborated on, entitled "Scar Wars." They gave me photos of certain celebrities and asked me to alter their 'signature' features to look as if they've been over-operated on. Click this link to check it out. (Yes, the 'afters' are supposed to look overdone!)
Thanks to Editor-at-large Dale Hrabi for asking me to take part in this project.

The G Shot

I've been asked by the Fox News Channel to discuss The G Shot on America's Newsroom tomorrow at 9:30 am. The G Shot is a procedure originated by well-known Beverly Hills gynecologist Dr. David Matlock, which entails injecting collagen into the G-spot to increase its thickness and size. The belief is that this can enhance sexual arousal and graftification. According to Dr. Matlock's in-office study, 87% of women reported successful results. The procedure takes about 8 seconds (the time for the injection) and lasts about 4 months.

Now, I've never performed this procedure, and as a surgeon tend to stay away from this area of the body. I do have some colleagues in Beverly Hills who know Dr. Matlock very well and have only kind words about him as a person, surgeon, and his practice. While the information on this procedure is scant in our scientific literature, this would be expected with such a new procedure. It is an off-label use of the product, and therefore not FDA approved yet. From what I can tell though, the risks are minimal, and it is definitely possible it works.
But I am still going to avoid putting needles into that area...

For more information on the G Shot, check out this article from the San Francisco Chronicle or click here for Dr. Matlock's website.

New York Times Article

This blog and I were mentioned in the New York Times yesterday in an articled entitled, "Blogging for Beauty." In it they state:

Another surgery skeptic online is Dr. Anthony Youn, a plastic surgeon in Rochester Hills, Mich., who deconstructs the procedures of well-known figures on celebritycosmeticsurgery.blogspot.com.

Not too exciting, but a mention nonetheless. They also mention other blogs linked on this site, such as Plastic Surgery 101, The Beauty Brains, and Plasticized. Click here for the link to the article.

Nancy Pelosi - Plastic Surgery?

Has Nancy Pelosi had plastic surgery? SF Weekly has an interesting article which examines this possibility, along with quotes from yours truly. I haven't seen many 'before' photos of her, but she does look darn good for 66 years. She may very well have had her face and her eyelids lifted...

Renee Zellweger - Breast Augmentation?

Has Renee Zellweger had a breast augmentation? What about Britney Spears? Or Nicole Kidman? My opinions are published in the most recent issue of In Touch Weekly, currently on newsstands. Do I think Renee Zellweger had a breast augmentation?
I think so. Her breasts appear to have gotten bigger in an unnatural way.

There it is..."The truth behind the rumors!"

Jennifer Aniston Doppelganger

I was recently interviewed by In Touch Weekly magazine regarding a video of what looks like a topless Jennifer Aniston which has been making waves on the internet recently. The story has been picked up by many other sites:
The Post Chronicle
The National Ledger
Socialite's Life
PR Inside
richandfamous.org

The one I like the best is the one which states "Surgeon comes to Aniston's rescue." Somehow, I doubt that she thinks I'm her hero.
